I too am a fan of the Citation transformers and tubes. I have a pair of mono blocs with the Citation transformers that have been sitting unused for a couple of years, but I love them. I’ve also got a DIY table, that started when I saw a friends DIY Teres bearing TT. Many years later, and I’m still tweaking it, this time with a new motor and c…[Read more]

This sounds like something most members would be interested in participating in. I think Larry may be working on incorporating this into an event. Larry?

I’m glad I made the suggestion that Russ write this tribute, after he informed me of Ms. Whitfield’s death and suggested that I write it. Thanks Russ, for such a wonderful send off to a great lady of song. She will be missed by very many in the Bay Area, and indeed the rest of the World.

anomaly7 started the topic Fleeing The Fires. What Would You Take With You? in the forum Fleeing Wildfires… What Would You Take? 5 months, 3 weeks ago
The fires in Northern California have had an impact on all of our lives here in the Bay Area, quite drastically for some people. Many people have lost their lives, and many more have lost their homes and possessions. I have friends who had to remain on alert in preparation for evacuating their homes. This made me think about what I would do if I…[Read more]

They look well made and should move quickly. Do you have pictures of the top of the speakers? What’s happening with that little shelf on top. Is there an opening there?

No! Kev, you need to re state the sonic attributes of these speakers. I’ve heard them, and I’d say it like this: These OB’s PLAY BASS REAAAALLLY WELL! When you can feel the rumble of the Tympani beneath your feet, that’s some gooooood bass.

Hello “UpTheCreek”
Welcome to the SFAS forum.

Hello Mat-
Welcome to the San Francisco Audiophile Society, and more specifically, to our forum section of the web site. Getting “hooked into vinyl” is something many of us are very familiar with! I look forward to seeing you at an event soon, and someday making a trip down to your audio showroom. You’ve got an impressive line up of audio…[Read more]

David- Excellent write up, and one that needs to be previewed in the next Muse “New Toys” section with a reference to the full write up here. Some people may feel cables are not enough of a “component” to warrant the moniker of being a toy, but I think you’ve made the point that your cable experience deserves inclusion.

Wow. This sounds fun, as I agree that there is no instrument like a large pipe organ, because well, there isn’t. One of my favorite demo pieces is Bach’s Passacaglia & Fugue in C minor, BWV 582
I received the recording on a demo CD from a speaker manufacturer who could not remember where that particular piece had come from. For many years it has…[Read more]

Hi John,
Infrequently, but a few times a year I’ve been lucky enough to partake in some informal album side listening sessions, generally with with 3 to 5 people total. Most of the participants have been members of the SFAS, but occasionally friends who don’t want to take the time to formally join a club have coordinated a gathering. Of c…[Read more]

Alon, a splendid observation (on fire) that I didn’t notice until you pointed it out! A nearby bar-b-q perhaps?
Jazzfan- That this design is superior to existing turntable designs will be a matter of debate. he purported advantage would be that there could be no bearing noise transmitted to the platter- there being no bearing that the platter…[Read more]

Hello Zan,
That sounds like a fantastic system at a great price for someone looking to buy a complete set up all in one fell swoop.
If you’ve no luck selling the system as a whole, let me know your price points for the individual components?
Thanks David H
