We’re getting closer to the new SFAS website launch! We’re shooting for
September 10, but before we launch the new site we’ll need to shut down
the current site from September 6 – 9. This will give us time to transition
some content and conduct functionality testing. Once the new site is up
and running we’ll still need to incorporate additional content. Please do
let us know your thoughts and comments.

I know you’ve all been wondering “when is the SFAS going to update our website?” Well, we have great news for you! We’ve hired a very talented web designer who is not only working to refresh the look and feel of our website, but will also implement some changes to our event registration, The Muse newsletter, and forums to encourage website visits along with improved member participation and member connections. We’re working hard to improve your experience with SFAS and, as always, would love to hear from you.

It’s the Journey, Not the Destination By Larry Deniston
How many times have you heard the phrase “it’s the journey, not the destination”? To me it’s a great way to approach life and HiFi. While “the journey” isn’t always foremost in my consciousness when doing my day to day activities, I do like to stop and think about it from time to time – it keeps me a little more grounded. And I need that reminder especially when there’s a bump in the road or there’s a new piece of equipment that seems to be calling my name.

The last few weeks in California’s high-end audio arena have been, to say the least, interesting. Appropriately, we’ll start off this issue with a relevant article by SFAS Vice-President Larry Deniston on his experience of attending audio shows, as well as some updates on upcoming events.

Well, to say that our event with Michael Fremer was a great success would be an understatement. About 60 SFAS members joined us in our new venue in the conference room of the Hilltop Mall in Richmond, which Leslie has generously configured for presentations and music, just what we needed! We can probably fit almost 100 attendees in this space and there is no problem with parking! We can now grow our ranks of members without fearing any wear and tear at Leslie’s home.

This issue of The Muse is massive. Packed with all kinds of audiophile-friendly articles, event announcements, rants, tech talk, humor and music picks. We’re leading this newsletter with a remarkable article by the indefatigable David Hicks. In it, David shares his knowledge and research into audiophile history. I found it quite fascinating. This is very timely, since he also informs us that April actually is International Audiophile History month! Coincidence?
